diamond is sold

another board was sold this week. marco from zurich visited me and also had a look in the shaping & glassing room to get introduced to the production process. he decided to go for the 5'11'' x 21 1/2'' x 2 3/4'' diamond tail. he's not new to surfing but the landlocked stick is his first personal board. have fun!

another one finished

i'd call it just in time. right before the summer surf is up i finished this little play board. it will be an enjoyable board and easy to paddle as it comes with a bit of extra thickness.

glassing: epoxy surf clear, 1x 6oz bottom, 2x 6oz top
fins: thruster, fcs fusion

it will be posted for sale. but i won't be sad if the board will join us for the trip to france in september. and i hope so will the rest of the surf gipsy crew. :-)

 

 

update

i spent some time in the shaping bay this weekend and have done the gloss coat for the new 6'1 stick.




i also worked on the outline of my daughters 4'0 nug shape surfboard.

lamination done

during the last days i finished the lamination process and presanded the board. i worked with a new technique to improve the cutlaps and it turned out very well. now it's time for the gloss coat, leash plug installation and final sanding.

the moped stick will be soon ready to get wet.

bottom lamination

yesterday night i worked on the bottom lamination of the new board. it turned out pretty well. seems like after a dozen of boards the lamination skills slowly improve :-)




other than that i started a new project to build a surfboard/bodyboard for my daugther. it will be made of a recycled blank out of an old fish board i got from portugal back in 2008. stay tuned for updates and more pictures.

new stick in production

today i was working on a new board. it's a rounded square tail with the dimensions 6'1 x 20 11/16'' x 2 5/8''. it has plenty of volume to make it easy to paddle but also a traditional shortboard outline. the nose area has a slight concave shape. i'll work  on the glassing the next weeks while i've finished the thruster fin setup already.

today, patrice from lucerne visited my shaping bay and decided to purchase three boards. he has chosen the ant board for himself, the red stripe egg shape & pocket rocket are for his friends. in a few weeks he'll be off to portugal. i hope he enjoys the boards & portuguese treatment and will be back at some point for a custom made stick :-)
